Tadcaster Group Camp
Saturday 9th to Sunday 10th October 2021

1st Tadcaster Scout Group enjoyed a brilliant #returntoscouting themed Group Camp in October 2021 at Tamarak camp site near Selby. The camping out and sleeping over element of the planned camp was sadly cancelled, but this did not dampen our spirits!

Explorer Scouts and Scouts joined together on the first day arriving on camp nice and early all set for their cooked breakfast to set them up for the day. They then played some fun wide games all together before Explorer Scouts headed to nearby Allerthorpe Lake for some much needed fun on the water! Scouts stayed on camp and built some fantastic dens in the campsite woods. At the close of camp, we all enjoyed songs around the campfire with some of our Scouts leading the way and entertaining all!

The second day saw our Cub Scouts and Beaver Scouts arrive to camp, many of whom had not been to camp before! It’s fair to say that our young people never go hungry on camp, our two resident chefs (parent volunteers) cook delicious meals for everyone and after breakfast, the Beavers and Cubs enjoyed playing some fun and energetic wide games led by the Scout leaders. Afterwards, Beavers worked towards badge work separately. Beavers worked in pairs/small teams to hunt down the hidden Beavers around the campsite and made nature art to take home with them. Cubs enjoyed making fruit kebabs toasted on the campfire, guiding a partner around an obstacle course blindfolded and learning new whittling techniques. A campfire, rousing songs and thanks to leaders all took place before pick up.

Here’s to our next camp away!
