Cubs Canoeing Session at Tadcaster Pool
17th Feb 2019
Some of the older Cubs in the group had a great opportunity to try out a can canoeing session at Tadcaster Pool. This was run by the Lower Wharf Canoe Club who run sessions at Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool during the winter months.
The ten Cubs who took part started out with some safety training by having to capsize and escape from the kayak, then they all took to the water with the help of the instructors who were present.
Part of the session was a course which involved ducking through hoops around the pool, and also making a kayak bridge and walking across with the help or hindrance of the other Cubs present! After a lot of splashes and crashes all of them ended the session getting wet but with a big smile on their faces.
All the Cubs had a great experience and learnt some more safety tips about the water, thanks to the club for the opportunity.
Lower Wharfe Canoe club is a family orientated club, with a base at Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool in the winter, and Bishopthorpe on the River Ouse in the summer.
